In the land of holiday mittens, I was anxious to make something different. So, I broke out a pair of rarely used size 15 needles and two skeins of Cascade yarn to knit up a poncho for my niece. Now, poncho – could there be any worse word for a knit accessory? “Poncho” makes me picture the Mexican costume my friend wore for Halloween. Alas, this is not that kind of poncho. To the right is the first half, took very little time, an open drop stitch pattern makes for a mindless, easy knit. I don’t recommend losing track and knitting it in one afternoon though, because working with that large of needles can be painful! The pattern is “Lazy Poncho” from the book Speed Knitting.
