I’ve never really had the urge to felt projects. I always saw the super cheesy, circus colored felted bags and cringed. Until a friend and I saw this AlterKnits book at JoAnns one day. We decided, after thorough inspection, that it may just not be so bad. There are a few projects that still inspire cringes, such as a 1980 op art sweater set. However, overall this is the only book that has ever inspired me to felt. My sweet friend Jenn gave it to me for Christmas and I have to say…I am really excited about trying this. And she has to join me, for safety. Project #1 – Wool Nesting Boxes. My friend Jenn and I trekked to Common Threads in Encinitas and bought one skein of Manos del Uruguay Wool in a boisterous red, which will make one box for each of us. This doomed experiment will not happen until after the holidays…and I’m sure there will be plenty to write about. My friends are the best! Great gifts and bravery! What more could you ask for?
